Thursday 14 November 2013

We have the keys!

No new photos this time, but we had handover yesterday, so the house is officially ours, now to lay some floors, get some carpet, blinds and bits and pieces. Will be spending most of next week working on it and will move fully in, in about 2-3 weeks time. Next pic will be of kitchen when floors and appliances are installed. Congratulations to us!

Outside done now inside

Haven't had a text entry for a while. The outside is finished so probably wont change too much except for the finishing touches. The bricks still need to be cleaned. Electrical wiring was done last week and ducted air con installed, this week internal walls (gyprocking)is taking place. So far it has been very smooth and timing is great as the weather has been so good.

Slab Down

Have had some great weather last week allowing the slab to be laid. Here we are in the first stages of our new house.

Thursday 27 June 2013

Rain and more rain.

The rain has not let up for almost 2 weeks now. Site Supervisor called yesterday to say he will give us a weekly update. He also said the slab can't be laid in this weather. Still raining now which is disappointing. Hopefully it stops soon, so we can move on.

Great to see some changes

Piering done, as is the plumbing that goes under the slab. Saw site yesterday whole bunch of foam has been delivered in bundles, waiting for the slab to be poured. Current weather is terrible, heavy rain, forecast is clearing in a couple of days, would be good to see slab this week, but depends on weather. HNere are couple of photos on how it's looking now.

Almost, not quite

Still no digging, had to send some paperwork by post which should have arrived overnight, but it took a whole week, we ended up delivering it by hand, just to make sure they have it. As that is the final step before they start, confident the digging will start this week. No major changes so no new photos, but there is a porta loo on site now, who thought having a portable toilet on a block of land would add to our excitement.

No changes after weekend

Went to check out the land last night to see if there has been any digging, but none, I would have said the rain has held it up, BUT next door has had there's dug up, looks like their builder is a little quicker. Would hope it will be this week.

Red Pegs

After doing some googling and reading other peoples blogs on building, it seems the red pegs are the beginning of the build. It marks out the boundary and it's in preparation for site scrape, cut and fill. So I'm hoping next time I visit the site it will be cleared. Probably in 3-4 days time. The weather hasn't been great though, there has been a bit of rain, so that may hold it up a bit. I will find out on the weekend.

Looks like they have put some pegs in the ground for the string line. Yaay something has started! Saw it today forgot to take any photos but here is one taken from the back, that's the Blue Mountains in the distance.

Admin Admin Admin!

Just waiting this week for a letter from the bank to say they are ready to go, which needs to be forwarded to the builder. Start date still estimated early to mid June although mid seems more realistic. Found out house number will be 7, that's a good number!

And the building is about to start

We are going to keep a record of the building progress, the construction certificate was just issued, so thinking it is about 3 weeks away from the start of the build. Will update status and photos here as it progresses. So far it has been pretty smooth, although a few surprises meaning having to pay extra more than once. Moral of the story is when building a project home add another 120k to the base price at least! The location is at Gregory Hills a new estate suburb of Camden council in Sydney's south-west. The builder is Clarendon homes, we didn't make too many change to the original plan.
